Program Requirements

Requirements for the minor in Computer Engineering


To fulfill the requirements for the Minor in Computer Engineering, a student must complete a minimum of 15 credits. A minimum grade of (C) must be earned for each individual course. At least 12 credits of the minor must be completed at OU. At least 8 credits of courses chosen for the Minor in Computer Engineering must be non-duplicative with coursework in the student’s major, concentration, or another minor. Students are required to verify and satisfy prerequisites for each course they select as part of the minor.

  • course Introduction to Electrical and Computer Engineering (4) 
    or course Computer Organization (4) 

The Minor in Computer Engineering requires completing 4 courses.

In addition to the Required Course, 2 of the 4 courses must be selected from the Group A list of courses, the final of the 4 courses can be selected from Group A or Group B.

Embedded Systems

  • course High Performance Embedded Programming (4) 

Group B - Electives


  • course Microcomputer-based Control Systems (4)

  • course Embedded Artificial Intelligence (AI) (4)

  • course Embedded Security (4) or a 3000, 4000, or 5000 ECE or CSI course with Department approval

Applicable Majors


All Majors can declare this Minor with the exception of the following Major(s): Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering.
