East Asian Popular Cultures and Societies

This course provides an extensive overview into the dynamic and diverse cultures and societies in East Asia, particularly Japan, Korea and Chinese-speaking countries, e.g China, Taiwan, and Singapore. Through a study of historical traditions, modern transformations, and contemporary pop culture phenomena, students will explore how East Asian countries have evolved and become key players in domestic and global exchanges.General Education Requirement(s): This course satisfies the University General Education requirement for the Global Perspective Knowledge Exploration area.
