Course Description

Study of mechanical behavior of real engineering materials and how they influence mechanical design. True stress/strain properties of materials, plastic deformation and fracture of materials, failure theories, fatigue damage under cyclic loading, creep and high temperature applications. Material properties of engineering metals, ceramics and composites. Behavior of materials during and after manufacturing processes such as stamping, drawing, extrusion, etc. Generally offered winter, summer.
