Course Description
Motivations behind design for manufacturing and assembly. Benefits of Design For Manufacturing (DFM) concepts to a company, an industry and the economy. Selection of manufacturing processes and materials. Concepts in DFM subfields such as design for - manual assembly, electrical assembly, robotic assembly, machining, sheet metal working and hot forging. Application of design for disassembly concepts. Statistical methods used in tolerancing. Major standing required.
