Upper Extremity Orthotics

Course Description

In this course, the student will be exposed to the pathologies affecting the appendicular skeleton -upper extremity. Pathologies will be discussed in view of their immediate impact, treatment and the progression of the pathology. In conjunction with the pathology exposure, treatment protocols will be discussed and fitting and adjusting of both custom and prefabricated orthoses (custom fit and Off-the-shelf) will be explored. The students will learn fitting protocols, adjustment techniques and alignment with identified patient outcomes. Prerequisites: EXS 3510 and EXS 3520, or BE 4510; These courses may be taken concurrently.
