Course Description
Study of the African-based music traditions found in the Caribbean Islands, South America and the United States. Emphasis on cultural context and the development of new musical forms by African-Americans. Some performance required. Satisfies the university general education requirement in the arts knowledge exploration area. Satisfies the university general education requirement in U.S. diversity.
