Texts from the French and Francophone World (pre-1800)

Course Description

A study of texts from the French and Francophone world pre-1800. Through analysis and translation of original documents, students will acquire knowledge of political systems, economies, cultures, and religions in societies across the francophone world. Students will also decipher European foundational texts, thus gaining understanding of Western civilization. Conducted in English. Satisfies the university general education requirement in the global perspective knowledge exploration area or in the western civilization knowledge exploration area, not both.
