Upper Extremity Prosthetics
Course Description
In this classroom and lab- based course, the student will be exposed to the pathologies and conditions that result in upper extremity amputations. These will be discussed in view of their immediate impact, treatment and the indicated prosthetic intervention. Treatment protocols will be discussed as well as the initial surgical intervention and revisions to the residual limb. The students will learn how different types of disease or trauma will alter outcomes and influence prosthetic use. Prerequisite(s): EXS 3510 and EXS 3520, or BE 4510; These courses may be taken concurrently.
